WASHINGTON -- Anthony Rendon homered to spark a three-run seventh inning, and pinch-hitter Nate McLouth came through with a tiebreaking sacrifice fly as the Washington Nationals rallied past the Houston Astros 6-5 Wednesday night for a two-game sweep. Jermaine Whitehead Jersey . Washington extended its NL East lead to 1 1/2 games over Atlanta and Miami. The Nationals open a four-game series against the Braves on Thursday night in Washington. Rendon led off the seventh against Josh Zeid with his 10th home run, cutting the deficit to 5-4. Jayson Werth walked and went to third on Adam LaRoches single off Darin Downs (1-1). Kyle Farnsworth came on to face Ryan Zimmerman, who grounded into a fielders choice, beating the relay to first as Werth scored to tie it. Ian Desmond then doubled Zimmerman to third. After Danny Espinosa was intentionally walked, McLouths long fly to left field scored Zimmerman with the go-ahead run. Aaron Barrett (3-0) got one out for the win and Rafael Soriano earned his 15th save. Matt Dominguez drove in two runs for the Astros, who have lost three straight. Rendon, a Houston native, is 9 for 18 against the Astros with seven RBIs. For the second night in a row, neither starter made it past the fifth inning. Astros right-hander Scott Feldman left after five innings with a 4-2 lead. He gave up six hits and three walks while striking out five. Gio Gonzalez, activated Wednesday after missing 29 games due to left shoulder inflammation, pitched five innings, allowing four runs and five hits. He struck out six and walked three while throwing 93 pitches. Gonzalez has allowed 16 earned runs over 12 1-3 innings in his last three starts, including his last two before going on the disabled list. His ERA climbed to 4.94, the highest it has been in June or later since 2009. A replay review helped Washington take a 1-0 lead in the first. Denard Span walked and was called out attempting to steal second. Nationals manager Matt Williams challenged the call, and after a replay review it was overturned. Span then moved to third on an infield single by Rendon and scored on LaRoches sacrifice fly. In the third, Werth walked, stole second and scored on Desmonds single. With Houston trailing 2-0 in the fourth, five straight Astros reached safely. After a walk and a hit batter, Jon Singleton singled to load the bases. With the count 2-1, Dominguez lined Gonzalezs fastball to left field for a two-run single. Jason Castro followed with an RBI double and Jonathan Villar added a sacrifice fly to put Houston ahead 4-2. The Nationals cut the deficit to one when Spans two-out double in the sixth scored Espinosa. The Astros got it right back in the seventh. Robbie Grossman went from first to third on a single by Jose Altuve and scored on Ross Detwilers wild pitch. NOTES: The Nationals stole a season-high five bases, all in the first three innings. ... Houston RHP Brad Peacock (stomach virus) didnt make the trip to Washington and will rejoin the team Thursday when it opens a four-game series at Tampa Bay. ... RHP Jordan Zimmermann (5-3, 2.98 ERA) opposes Atlanta RHP Gavin Floyd (1-2, 2.98) in Thursdays series opener. ... Houston RHP Collin McHugh (4-4, 3.03) faces RHP Chris Archer (3-4, 3.40) on Thursday at Tampa Bay. Randall Cobb Jersey . Canada wasnt in the game from the outset. Head coach Dan Church left Calgary in the morning without addressing the players. He told The Canadian Press he felt the organization lacked confidence in his ability to defend the Olympic gold medal in February. David Bakhtiari Jersey .2 million in 2012, according to tax returns the league has submitted. After feeling satisfied about his teams play in three losses to open the Stanley Cup final, New York Rangers coach Alain Vigneault could easily empathize with the Los Angeles Kings when the roles were reversed in Game 4. "It was a real tough game, I think, for L.A," Vigneault said. "It was probably their best game of the playoffs that theyve played against us." And it was a loss, as the Kings failed to finish off the sweep thanks to 40 saves by Henrik Lundqvist, one by Anton Stralman and one by a combination of snow built up in the crease and Derek Stepan. That the Rangers needed so much luck and strong goaltending only underscored just how dominant Los Angeles was. Just dont tell the results-oriented Kings that. Even after players talked after wins about needing to play better, the self-criticism was turned up despite outshooting the Rangers 41-19. "At the end of the day, we werent good enough to win," captain Dustin Brown said. "Its about finding a way to be better." The chance to do that comes in Fridays Game 5 back at Staples Center in Los Angeles with the Kings still in command of the series and the Cup waiting nearby. After Game 4 at Madison Square Garden, it didnt feel as though the Kings were on the cusp of the title, like it did after they went up three games to none. All around the visiting locker-room there was talk about what areas needed to be better, from start to finish. "We still probably could play better for a full game," fourth-line centre Mike Richards said. "It took us a little bit to get into it again for whatever reason." A turnover off the opening faceoff by leading Conn Smythe Trophy candidate Drew Doughty was an inauspicious start, but the Kings still had the lions share of chances. No time was that more evident than in the third period, when the Kings shelled Lundqvist to the tune of 15 shots to New Yorks one, which didnt come untill almost 13 minutes had elapsed. Geronimo Allison Jersey. The puck was close to going in, but it didnt. "We had some good chances in the third," Brown said. "We have to put ourselves in better situations." While the Kings gave Lundqvist his due for stonewalling them, they put the onus on themselves to get better scoring chances moving forward in the series. Quality, not quantity. "I think we can do a better job getting to him," centre Anze Kopitar said. "I think (there) a couple of times where we didnt make it tough on him. The pucks were sitting there. But the pucks hes going to see, hes going to stop. Thats just how it is." Twice, when Stralman knocked the puck off the goal-line in the first and when Stepan swept it off with 71 seconds left in the third, Lundqvist didnt see the puck until it was almost too late. Alec Martinez couldve had a goal and then an assist on a shot deflected by Tanner Pearson, but that wasnt how things went for the Kings on Wednesday night. Doughty even called both goals against "pretty bad bounces." And while luck has appeared to define this series, the Kings arent on the verge of a second championship in three years because they rely on good fortune. "If we clean up our play, you make your own bounces at this time of year," Brown said. "We had chances that we didnt put in the back of the net." Having reached the final by coming back from a 3-0 series deficit against the San Jose Sharks and needing seven games in the other two series, the Kings know what to expect energy-wise from the Rangers on Friday night. Thats a big help. But an even bigger help would be fixing any holes that have kept the Kings from polishing things off. "We could still do some better things for a more consistent period of time," Richards said. "Well look at it. Watch some video and correct a couple of things and put our best foot forward." Cheap Throwback Baseball Detroit Tigers Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Colorado Rockies Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Houston Astros Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Kansas City Royals Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Los Angeles Angels Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Los Angeles Dodgers Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Miami Marlins Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Milwaukee Brewers Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Minnesota Twins Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball New York Mets Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball New York Yankees JerseysCheap Throwback Baseball Oakland Athletics Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Philadelphia Phillies Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Pittsburgh Pirates Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball San Diego Padres Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball San Francisco Giants Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Seattle Mariners Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball St. Louis Cardinals Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Tampa Bay Rays Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Texas Rangers Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Toronto Blue Jays Jerseys Cheap Throwback Baseball Washington Nationals Jerseys ' ' '
